When prompted with the question, What thought process led you to the use of a golden background?, Mariscotti states: "gold was the obvious choice for the feeling I wanted to create." Gold has always been a symbol of luxury, opulence; however as he sees it, gold also evokes a feeling of joy. "This golden painting is in a sense a culmination of previous similar works. I was looking for a celebration, but instead got much more, a statement. Gold potentiates the relationship between elements and reaffirms it."
